Exam Results

This summer Year 11 students achieved the best ever GCSE results in the school’s history.
What a year Group.
82% of the students – 161 of them - got 5 or more A* - C’s.
59% achieved 5 or more A* - C’s and got at least a C in English and Maths GCSE.
46% achieved an A* - C in every GCSE they sat.
96% achieved 5 or more A* - G grades.
Well done to all of last years Year 11.
Why has this massive improvement happened? Well, we interviewed Mr Pout to try to find out. He said:
“I think it is a number of changes that have been introduced, are starting to bear fruit.
Firstly, the curriculum is better; it used to be one size fits all. Now we have so many different ways for students to succeed. For example Fast Track GCSE’s and new courses including Music Technology, OCR Science, Catering, Photography and Construction.
Secondly, the quality of learning environment has improved with Whiteboards, computers, new labs, refurbished classrooms. This makes a huge difference to learning opportunities.
Thirdly, the teachers are all pulling in the same direction; they work extremely hard and are very focused on getting the best grades for their classes.
I believe the quality of learning has never been better.
Finally, I think all of our students are rising to the challenge that we want the best from absolutely all of them. Also I do not want to forget the support we get from parents, who can make such a big difference to their children’s exam chances. But I want even better exam results in the future. We must continually improve and reflect on what we could do better. We must not settle for anything but the best.”
