Arts Academy News:

DANCING students gained invaluable experience at a world-famous Broadway venue after jetting out to New York on a school trip.Forty teenagers from Rainhill Arts Academy took part in ballet, jazz, hip hop and contemporary classes at the Broadway Dance Centre.

They also enjoyed sights of the Big Apple, visiting the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building and Times Square.Among the highlights was breakfast at the iconic Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where Broadway stars serenade visitors.

Louise Aylward, Rainhill’s head of dance, said: “As many of our students want to pursue a professional career in dance it is essential they are given the opportunity to experience the arts culture globally.“Mixing with other dance students from different cultures allowed them to appreciate their own ability and achievement.

“They will be able to draw upon this valuable experience in their future, be it for university applications, internship interviews, employment or professional dance auditions.“The week was fantastic and they students were outstanding. Time passed too quickly and many of the students are already thinking of coming back to study at The Tisch School at NYU or Julliard.”

Claire Greaves: Textiles artist.

In April, the Arts Academy hosted a Textiles workshop with Patricia Greaves. Patricia is an accomplished Textiles artist and her work has been displayed on an international level.
