Year 8 & Year 10 Summer Exam Timetable

Please find the examination timetables for Year 8 and Year 10 LP3 assessments. Unlike the previous assessments we have decided to co-ordinate and then publish to parents when your son/daughter will sit their summer examination.
It should be noted that all assessments are cumulative and therefore based potentially on anything that your son/daughter has studied during this academic year. These examinations will therefore ‘test’ everything that your son/daughter has studied during this academic year to date.
The Year 8 assessment will be based on a substantive piece of work in their subject from which a teacher is able to give a Rainhill level for Year 8 (as published on the school website via Parent Zone – Information – Curriculum Levels). Year 8 students will complete their examinations in their classrooms under exam conditions.
For Year 10 students, all subjects which have a written paper will have their examinations scheduled in the Sports Hall to give the students an experience of completing full GCSE papers in examination conditions. We feel that this is excellent preparation for the real thing. During the examination week students should must register in form by 8.55 am and then proceed to the examination venue by 9.00 am to allow morning examinations to commence at 9.10 am. Similarly, for afternoon examinations, students should be in their examination venue at 1.05 pm to allow a prompt start at 1.15 pm. Please note that when your son/daughter is not completing an examination they will attend lessons as normal. Examinations commence on Friday 17th June 2016 with Mathematics Paper 1 in the Sports Hall at 1.05 pm and continue into the following week as per the timetable.

To enable your son/daughter to best fulfil their potential it is vital, therefore, that they take these examinations seriously and prepare well for them. For example, in the lead up to the examinations your son/daughter should be completing approximately 2 – 3 hours of independent revision per day. It is also important that, as their parent/guardian, you stress the importance of the examinations and work supportively with the school to best enable your son/daughter to prepare sufficiently for them. Your son/daughter should be very clear about what is being examined from their class teacher. Indeed for each Year group the subject content of what is being studied at each half-term is published via the school website (Parent Zone – Information – HT Overviews 2015).

I have asked all teaching staff to set revision homework for the next few weeks until the examinations have been sat which your son/daughter should record in their planner.

I trust that you find this information useful and that we are able to best work together to ensure that your son/daughter continues to make progress in all the subjects they are studying.
