Rainhill Ski Austria Friday 9th- Saturday 17th February 2018
What an amazing half term week we have just had with 51 pupils from Years 8, 9 & 10 in
the Austrian resort of Gertlitzen-Villach which is about 2 hours from Salzburg.
After quick a 26 hour coach journey we arrived at our traditional Austrian hotel in high
spirits on Saturday night. Everyone was excited for the following day to start lessons so
we unpacked, had our first taste of the local cuisine and headed straight to bed.

‘Apres ski’ activities including; a spa night, ice skating, shopping and disco with
One of the highlights of the week was the penultimate day slalom races. These were run
in groups with bronze, silver and gold medals awarded for the top three places in each
Medals and certificates were awarded during the presentation evening held on the last
night, which was attended by the ski instructors at our hotel.

warm sunshine, with the top group learning to ski backwards at the peak of the
We sadly left for home after dinner on Friday night for our long drive home through the
night, after some delays on the ferry and a quick stop at McDonalds for tea, we all arrived
home safe and well with no injuries on Saturday night before some well-deserved rest on
Sunday for all the staff and pupils.
What a fantastic week – We cannot wait for next year!
