Y13 Theatre Studies Trip
On Monday evening our Theatre Studies students attended the performance of "A Pacifists Guide to the War on Cancer" at the Playhouse in Liverpool. The purpose of the trip was for the students to explore the application of Brechtian theories in performance.
The students found the performance empowering and deeply moving and are inspired to see further works of writer Bryony Kimmings. This is one of many enrichment opportunities offered to our Arts Academy students as part of our Sixth Form programme.
U Dance 2018
Our Dance Company and Arts Academy students have sent off their entries to the U Dance 2018 National platform this week. U Dance is a National competition led by Youth Dance England and The Arts Council.
Successful entries will be invited to the North West final at the Lowry Theatre at Salford Quays in April.
We have entered two dance pieces this year that were both previewed at our Winter Dance Showcase. "Diva of Hearts" performed by our Y9 - Y12 Dance Company and "Dust" performed by our Y12 Dance students have been submitted to the panel in the hope that they will be shortlisted for the final!
Winter Dance Showcase
On Tuesday evening our dance students from Y7 - Y13 took to the stage at St Helens Theatre Royal to perform their examination piece for an audience of family and friends. For some of these students it was the first time they had ever performed in a professional theatre. The evening was an outstanding success and the student’s standard of performance was extremely high. They were fantastic ambassadors for the school and their behaviour on and off stage was very professional.
Thank you to the staff who supported the performance backstage and our amazing students that we are so proud of!
