I am delighted to welcome you to our School Website. Rainhill High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 1444 Students, including more than 250 in the Sixth Form. Our School Mission Statement is Reach for the Sky @ Rainhill High. Words chosen by the Students, that I believe, epitomise our ambitions. Our Students are genuinely at the heart of everything we do. We want them to be happy, and we will nurture them to be the best they can be. Rainhill is a popular school. Our students come mainly from the Rainhill and Nutgrove parts of St Helens, but about 30% come from Knowsley, Widnes or Warrington homes. We are consistently oversubscribed. We are proud of our Students achievements in examinations, we are proud of the quality of relationships at the school and we are proud of the opportunities we give our pupils. However, we are not arrogant or complacent. We want to be the best comprehensive in the North West, and to do this we listen, work hard, innovate and are self critical. Our examination results have improved dramatically in the last few years. In 2009 we achieved the following:
There is more and better to come. The Sixth Form Centre is expanding and our Sixth Form Students get excellent results and progress onto University. Rainhill is situated on a rural site with significant ICT as a tool for learning. As a Media Arts College we passionately believe that all Students have significant creative talent. Our curriculum and enrichment activities allow this talent to flourish. We want to become the best school in the North West, if not the country. In December 2009 we became St Helens’ first ever Trust School. We are founder members of Rainhill Learning Village Trust, a partnership with Rainhill High School, the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and St Helens College. Our most recent Ofsted Inspection was in February 2010; I think is it a fair and accurate report. Every year we hold an Open Evening which you are welcome to come to. In addition, if you want to tour school during the day give me a call and we can arrange for you to come in. I am proud to be the Head of Rainhill High School. The staff and I will work hard to help your child enjoy their High School and to grow into successful adults who can live effectively and happily in the society of today and tomorrow. Rainhill is a happy and dynamic school that combines traditional values, innovative curriculum, first class staff and an outstanding ethos. I look forward to meeting with you.
